Cozy Cottage Desk Ideas: How I Create a Warm & Peaceful Workspace

Good Morning, Happy Friday!

Here’s what’s happening at the cottage today. . .

I’m sharing my cozy cottage desk and the simple things I use to create a warm and peaceful workspace at home. My mom and dad gave me this beautiful wood desk that they originally bought for a home they were planning to move into but decided against it. (A story for another day.)

It is heavy, beautifully made, and I absolutely love the earthy, warm color. It invites me into the room with comfort, which is so important when you work from home. Your desk should bring you joy and be surrounded by the lovelies of your life.

Peace in a rainy day

We begin on this beautiful rainy day. Yes, my yard is a little lacking right now, but there’s a reason for that, and we’ll talk about it in another post. The day itself, though, feels like pure magic to me. I love rainy days most of all. The world seems more at peace, and a quiet stillness settles in. . .the kind that makes napping feel like a very good idea.

Let’s take a little journey through my cottage desk in my library room. There is a mix of old world charm and vintage touches that live together so beautifully. Comfort and familiarity breathe new life into an old fashioned decorating style.

When you walk into the library room your eyes are immediately drawn to the bookshelves and the stories they tell. But I wanted my desk to tell a story too. . .a story that someone works here and truly enjoys it.

I have a small collection of desk decorations that bring everything together.

It starts with my wooden butterfly riser, which I bought years ago at Hobby Lobby back when I thought I was just going through a “cottage decor phase.” Little did I know. . .it wasn’t a phase at all. It was simply my way of living.

This soft little lamp adds so much coziness. Every desk needs a warm glow. It helps you see, but it also creates a feeling. And the best part? It doesn’t have to be expensive. This one was just $12 from Target, an I love the color. It instantly warms up the space.

If you want a cottage-style desk, there are so many simple ways to add charm. I found this small wooden tray from the Magnolia collection at Target and added a magnifying glass and a candle snuffer, both of which are just adorable. They give the feeling of days gone by, when life seemed a little slower and simpler.

And of course. . .coffee. We all need a special place and a special cup for our coffee. I have a little coffee warmer and a mug that fits my cottage style perfectly. Pieces like this are easy to find at HomeGoods or even secondhand, and they make everyday moments feel just a little more special.

A cottage loves a candle glow. It is a quiet light that helps me slow down and feel at peace.

Me and my little brother. One of my favorite memories to keep close.

A little mix of vintage charm and everyday beauty.

A quiet place to begin my day. . .with truth, peace, and a little time with God. A good Bible is a great addition to any cozy, cottage desk.

A little bit of cozy, a little bit of work. . .and a tiny touch of Stars Hollow.

A simple chair turned into something special with a little creativity and a fabric I fell in love with.

It was the birds that won me over. . .soft, simple, and just the right touch of cottage charm.

A cozy seat for long, quiet moments. . .softened with a pillow and made just right for this little space.

Love, joy and God’s blessings!
